Artist Birth Date:  1525
Artist Death Date:  1569
Artist Country: Flemish
Title of Work:  Haymaking
Date of Work:  1565
Medium:  oil

Index Words:  hayfield, haycocks, workers, woman, scythe, rake, horse
Place:  Netherlands
Notes:  Until recently, the great Bruegel hay harvest was hung in a relatively obscure castle in suburban Prague. Now it has been moved into the center, the promotional showpiece of a collection housed just inside the main gates of Prague castle in the Lobkowicz Palace. It is beautifully reproduced on the cover of the guide to the museum, used on a flier distributed throughout the city [ID 6358], featured on a huge banner outside the museum [ID 6359], the subject of hundreds of postcards, and, most importantly, hung and lit beautifully in a prominent gallery in the palace itself.
