Notes:  This same monumental figure appeared in the Otterness installation at Utica in central Montana. For other views of the installation, see ID 1139, 2009, 2010, 2011. In the Summer of 2005, the piece was installed on a hill overlooking the Stanford campus in Palo Alto. I eventually heard of its arrival, six months later from Stanford haymate, Marnie Furbush. A brief Stanford press release accompanies ID 5310.

Notes:  Makin’ Hay, a three-figure sculpture by Tom Otterness, arrived in mid-July for a two-year stay on the Farm. The steel-and-hay women made their debut at What the Hay!, a contest sponsored by Montana farmers, and now reside on a hillside near the intersection of Stanford Avenue and Junipero Serra Boulevard. “I think they’re charming,” frequent Dish walker and Menlo Park resident Debbie Umphreys told Stanford Report. “My friends and I are working on names for all of them.”
