Artist Birth Date:  1862
Artist Death Date:  1919
Artist Country: American
Title of Work:  Landscape
Date of Work:  1913
Medium:  oil

Index Words:  haystacks, staddle, marsh
Place:  Massachusetts
Notes:  The setting is familiar from a hundred Heades, but, at least in this reproduction of an 18X26 in. canvas , the scale of the stacks and the melodramatic back-lighting create a scene of more looming menace. Since Mygatt also painted a now lost work entitled Edge of the swamp, Ipswich, Massachusets it is reasonable to suppose that Ipswich was also the inspiration for this landscape.
