Notes:  Having admired their fine online collection of Dupre haymaking scenes, I at last visited the Rehs Gallery in NY, and saw an original Dupre for the first time. I had corresponded with Howard Rehs and was pleased to meet his father Joe who was kind enough to let me photograph this inaccurately titled harvest scene. My reproduction inadequately captures Dupre's technique which magically depicts the stems of hay with deceptively casual flicks of paint. Even the excellent images at the Rehs website had failed to do justice to this hay-master's textures.
