Artist:  Heade, Martin Johnson
Artist Birth Date:  1819
Artist Death Date:  1904
Artist Country: American

Date of Work:  1880-1890

Notes:  The sharply drawn foreground detail contrasts with the soft billowy clouds beyond the horizon. A beautifully rendered side-lit stack, on a staddle with a prop at left, is just right of center. Balancing it to the left is an exquisite miniature: a horse-drawn wagon with one figure on top of the load and the other pitching hay up to him.
